SERVING THE COMMUNITY

As a graduate of The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and long-time resident of Dublin, Jean devotes his time here, serving our community. He has served as a long-time Board member of the Llewellyn Farms Civic Association - first as a Trustee and then as President for five years. He also served as Vice-Moderator and then Moderator of the Church Council at the Dublin Community Church. He has spent countless hours as a volunteer coach for Dublin Soccer League and currently serves as Varsity Girls Assistant Soccer Coach and JVA Coach at Dublin Coffman High School.

Jean leads with professionalism and integrity. In his capacity as a neighborhood President, he appeared on many occasions before the City's Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council. As a Church Moderator, he negotiated with the City on behalf of the Church. Jean has stayed engaged and connected, and has a unique perspective of the important issues of the day in our City.

Jean understands the importance of relationships, collaboration, doing what is right, and giving a voice to all of our neighborhoods. You can rest assured he will promote Dublin as the preferred City to live, work, and raise a family, and you can count on him to speak for all of our neighborhoods. Jean demonstrates thought and fairness in everything he does, and he will do the same for you, as your City Council Representative.

Q&A with Jean

Send an e-mail to philemond4dublin@gmail.com if you have a question for me, and I will do my best to answer within 24 hours.

I believe the residents of this Ward want to put their trust in a candidate with high character, integrity, and passion about the well-being of our entire city.  I am not a one-issue candidate, and I have proven this over my many years advocating for not just my neighborhood as President of our HOA, but in collaboration with many others before our City Council.

I will be a City Council Representative for all of us - connected and engaged.  I am so proud to have earned the endorsement of our sitting Council Member Jane Fox, and for her mentorship and leadership over the past 8 years.  I am committed to the same ideals that Jane has demonstrated through her loyalty and advocacy for all of us - time and time again.

After years of working with City Council in my role as an HOA President, it was suggested that I should run for Council.  I believe that I am someone who is reasonable, fair, and can bring people together.  I work with a team mentality and know that together we achieve the most.  That is one of the things that makes our city so great!

Dublin is a world-class city with endless opportunities and possibilities.  Our city serves as a primary destination for families, education, businesses, research and development, entertainment, and tourism, among others.  Through all of this, we must preserve the City's beauty and green space for our children and grandchildren.

1. I am deeply committed to preserving the integrity of our neighborhoods while addressing the challenges posed by unprecedented development.

2. I have negotiated and crafted specific zoning code changes and adjustments, including setbacks, buffering, height restrictions, density, and permitted uses.  I will continue to prioritize these safeguards for all of us.

3. I will support the City's thriving economic development objectives while ensuring the needs of our residents remains top priority.

Collaboration between these two institutions is paramount to a better and brighter future for our children. I think there are several reasons for this:

1. A world-class city depends on good and quality schools, which also serve to attract potential business partners who want to live and work here.

2. We want the entire City to be a destination for schools, not just certain neighborhoods.  I believe City Council has a relevant voice in this discussion.

3. The social and economic impact of the school system on the lives of residents is immeasurable.

At Llewellyn Farms, we prioritized this collaboration with the City Council.  Our own Ward 2 Councilwoman Jane Fox served as the City Council liaison with the schools, in fact.  If elected, I will make this work a priority and work to foster an even greater working relationship between these two institutions.

There is magic in the beauty of our City, be it in our neighborhoods, the Parks, the green spaces, the bridges, and also our annual international events. You can count on me to listen to your voice and to promote the authentic character of Dublin.

Yes, we must find ways to keep our seniors in Dublin, and I will work to make sure they are not neglected in the continual growth of our City.
